Inspectah Deck
Birth Name: Jason Hunter
a.k.a.: Rebel INS,
Rollie Fingaz, Fifth Brother, Sir I, Manifesto
Born in the Kingsbridge
section of the Bronx, Inspectah Deck moved to East New York before settling
down in Staten Island at age 12. It was in Staten Island where he first
hooked up with his Wu-Tang conglomerate attending public school with Raekwon,
Method Man, and Ghostface. A talented graffiti artist, athlete and good
student, it was only natural that he used his verbal, physical and creative
abilities to start rhyming. He soon met RZA, GZA, and Ol'Dirty Bastard when
their crew took the ferry to Staten Island, bringing their Brooklyn style
with them. This fusion magnified Deck's Shaolin style. Says Deck, "We were
separated from the other boroughs-we had our own little language."
Inspectah Deck first
emerged in the public eye in 1992, when Wu-Tang Clan released their debut
album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). Since then, two multi-platinum
Wu-Tang Clan albums have infiltrated the market, and finally, the highly
anticipated Inspectah Deck solo LP, Uncontrolled Substance, was
released in 1999. This impressive debut allowed fans of Inspectah Deck a
deeper look into his rich vocabulary, sharp intellect, and a knack for
effortlessly delivering complex rhymes.
